Windsurf NZ - Proposed 2011/2012 Season

"There have been several suggestions that we get on and start organising next seasons calendar
I have started a draft calendar here http://groupspaces.com/WindsurfingNZ - if you want access to this (and don't have it) please register and let me know
I have listed below the main events run this year rescheduled for next season, this is extracted from the the calendar in the site above
there are a few holes and a lot of local events missing, but this is a start.
I have not scheduled the RSX:Techno events except the Nationals, nor the Kendall Cup series
I haven't listed the kite events either but I have been listing these on the site, I think its worth doing this as well

Couple of suggestions, it would be good to have a true North Island series - options include a Wellington leg, it would be good to get some racing restarted there. Also there is interest in Tauranga which is possibly attractive to both ends of the island - also Tauranga has a plentiful supply of SUPs which could be used to guarantee and event of some kind if wind fails, or maybe Taupo or Rotorua, or Taranaki?

I think we could still have a Get into windsurfing week at the start of the season to get people started, and then a Have a go week

The main events to schedule are national and series events as they are the ones that will matter most to windsurfers who may wish to travel to these.
Wave - Classic / Nationals
Freestyle - Nationals
Slalom - Nationals
Series - South Island
Series - North Island
Harbour Blast, Big Downwinder

Sven Pedersen joins the New Zealand Youth Worlds Team

Twelve sailors will represent New Zealand at the ISAF Youth Sailing World Championships to be staged in Zadar, Croatia from 7-16 July this year.
The 2011 team includes some familiar names with three members, including Molly Meech, Georgia Schofield and Logan Dunning-Beck, already having Youth World Championships experience under their belt having competed in Istanbul, Turkey in 2010.

New Zealand has a proud history of success at the ISAF Youth Worlds which dates back to 1971. Over the history of the event kiwis have returned home with a total of 42 medals including 15 Gold, 15 Silver and 12 Bronze, and this year's team will be looking to increase that tally.

In preparation for the regatta the team will be involved in a busy schedule of training camps, domestic and international competition.
